This class will give you a strong foundation for successful dyeing at home using plants that you can easily find in your neighbourhood, in your garden and even in your kitchen.
We will cover fabric choices, scouring, and preparing your fabric for dyeing using tannins and mordants.
Once our fabrics are prepared, we will show you how to extract colour from plant material and secure that colour in fabric. We will also discuss using modifiers to shift the final colour.
Together we will prepare three simple dye baths. You will receive three bandannas to dye as you choose.
All materials will be provided. Bring an apron or wear clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty in.
